Is it possible to use a form to capture attendees at an event and trigger automated eDMs?

Hi there fellow Eloquans

I have recently joined a new company who are using E9 and they have asked me to look into a simple way to speed up the post event communications that are sent out. I was therefore hoping to try and get some advice on this from fellow users.

At present any given registration list is printed out and used at the event to work out the Attendees and No Shows. Once the event team return to the office this information is sent to a 3rd party vendor who manage our database and takes a few days for them to upload back into Eloqua. It therefore takes 4-5 days to send out any post event communications - thank you for attending, surveys, follow up product literature, etc.

What I have considered doing is to create a simple form (Email, First and Last Name) they can use at the event (ideally on a tablet) to capture the attendees on the day, including any walk ins off the street. The form will have a Processing Step to add these attendees into a new contact group ready to send out the event survey before the end of the event (using program builder) as well as any further communications over the coming days. The new contact group will also exclude attendees from receiving the follow up communications that are being sent out to the No Shows, which uses the original registration list.

I'm not sure if this process would work (does a form work on tablets) or whether there is a much simpler way to do this, hence me reaching out hoping to receive any help or advice anyone can offer before I press on with this.

Many thanks in advance

Ian
